A physics student of the University of the Philippines in Diliman who once dreamed of becoming a garbage collector produced the "Best Project of the Year" in the 2009 BPI-DOST Science Awards held January 19, 2009 at the Bank of the Philippine Islands in Makati City. Mikhail P. Solon, a BS Physics graduating student, bagged the top prize for his work on theoretical physics, which was published in an international physics journal and won the nod of the panel of judges from BPI and the Department of Science and Technology.
