Nearly 100 winners – now medical doctors, accomplished professors, and topnotch professionals here and abroad – of the BPI-DOST Science Awards gathered Monday (March 16) to mark the 20th year of the country’s longest-running science competition.

Organized in 1989 by the BPI Foundation, Inc., the corporate social responsibility arm of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Awards recognizes exceptional science and engineering students from partner-universities nationwide. Nearly 100 awardees attended the “reunion” at BPI’s head office in Makati City. Science Education Institute director Dr. Esther B. Ogena, Dr. Filma Brawner, executive director of the Philippine Science High School system and top partner university officials were among the evening’s guests.
