Frequently Asked Questions about our service |
| What is PRessroom.ph? PRessroom.ph is a 24/7 source of press-quality content for media, analysts, investors, and other interested groups. It is also an outsourcing solution for companies or organizations that need to provide fresh, up-to-date, reliable and press-quality information to their external publics with just the click of a mouse. What is a Podcast? The term "podcast" derives its name from Apple's iPod, which is the brand of portable media player for which the first podcasting scripts were developed. Podcast is a new type of online media delivery tool. It allows users to listen to an audio or video recording via the internet. What is a press release? A press release is a document issued to the media, trade and industry analysts, and consumers to announce a new product, partnership, acquisition, event, new personnel, or other newsworthy items. Press releases are usually prepared by a company or public relations firm and are delivered to journalists and analysts. If the journalist or analyst finds the announcement of value, they may contact the company for more details and/or an interview. This may result in the company being mentioned in an article or broadcast. Why does my company need PRessroom.ph to send out its message? PRessroom.ph is the best online platform to reach your target media. Since PRessroom.ph is making the press information available and accessible 24/7 to media, your press material can be read, listened to (in the case of an audio Podcast) or viewed directly by media via a single website. Media may also request for the press information on the company/organization/industry they closely monitor to be delivered straight to their mailbox. However, it is still up to the editors and reporters whether to incorporate your press information in their next issue or broadcast. Does PRessroom.ph write the press release? Traditionally, the press release is written by the company/organization submitting it. However, since PRessroom.ph has to ensure that all contents uploaded on its site are of press quality (to save the editor or reporter from the hassles of rewriting and proofreading), we will exercise our editorial judgment on all press releases to ensure better pick up. No press material, however, shall be uploaded on the site without prior consent from the client subscriber. Please refer to the package of services on the cost of writing a press release for your company/organization. Do you guarantee that the media will pick up my release? No. Unlike advertising where you are paying for space in a publication or airtime in a broadcast, with public relations it is up to the media to determine whether or not the material you provide is newsworthy. What PRessroom.ph can guarantee is that all press material uploaded on its site is of press quality. What is considered "press-quality" material? For a material to be considered press-quality, it must be newsworthy, have a broad interest and strong news angle, and needs to be written in a journalistic rather than marketing style. Most importantly, your release needs to "inform" people, NOT sell something. How do I submit a press release for the first time? Once you have completed the subscription and PRessroom.ph has verified the information you gave, you will be notified via email on the process of sending a press release and other press material (e.g., photos and Podcast interviews). The editors of PRessroom.ph will review the press material and decide whether or not it can be uploaded on the site. The subscriber's Media Contact will be notified via SMS or email if the press material is approved or disapproved for uploading. No material shall be uploaded without the client subscriber's prior consent. Disapproved material will be immediately tossed back to the client subscriber and recommendations will be given on how to make the material press-quality. Who will upload the content that has been approved? PRessroom.ph will handle all uploading and maintenance of the site. The client subscriber only has to communicate the approval before any press information will be show on the site. Can I also transmit photos to accompany my press release? Yes, as this will certainly improve the chances of your press release being picked up by media. Just make sure that the photos you will provide is not copyrighted material, stolen or grabbed from the Internet. You may include the name of the company/organization or the photographer you commissioned to take the photo. By providing the photos to PRessroom.ph, your company/organization in effect waives all its rights and releases the photos to the public domain. This means the media and any registered user on PRessroom.ph can use the photos anywhere and anyhow they like, including commercial use. What other services does PRessroom.ph offer? Beyond making the subscriber's press information available 24/7 to media and other groups, PRessroom.ph also offers editorial content development services (i.e., writing press releases, conducting interviews and research), as well as press archives, Internet monitoring, and web-based solutions, to mention a few.
